Main Façade.
Using more hardscape than landscape to maximize pedestrian pathways and experiences, as well as maximizing the usable outdoor spaces and outdoor exhibition spaces, hence allowing the viewers to focus on their experience exploring the Science Park and its contents, rather than focusing on the softscape.
Distinguishing the main facilities with a modern design using the
language of lines familiar to the character of iconic Egyptian architecture and forms, but with a contemporary and abstract approach rather than a more traditional and direct one, from start to end.
The mosque is located in the middle of the Diplomatic District within the religious zone. With an area of 10,800 square meters it accommodates nearly (1000) worshipers as well as having its own external courts. It is bound on the north by the Diplomatic Districts’ club and from all other directions by a group of commercial markets overlooking the mosque’s external courts. The mosque accommodates an additional 2,500 worshipers in its external courts. These courts are surrounded by Arcades spanning 1,120 meters connected to a minaret with a height of 45 meters.
The mosque’s exterior design is a mixture of Islamic and ancient Egyptian architecture which is prevalent throughout the District’s buildings. This creates a comprehensive and harmonious urban fabric in the Diplomatic District.
